‘You Will Face The Law’ – Edo Govt Warns Reinstated Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu

Top Stories Tamfitronics

Top Stories Tamfitronics The Edo State Government has berated the reinstated Deputy Governor of the state, Philip Shaibu, accusing him of leading a group of thugs in attacks on innocent citizens and private property in Benin City.

Naija News recalls that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja had on Wednesday nullified Shaibu’s impeachment and reinstated him as the Deputy Governor.

The court directed the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, to restore Shaibu’s full security details.

But the Edo State Government swiftly appealed the court’s ruling and applied for a Stay of Execution.

While the court is yet to rule on the Stay of Execution, Shaibu returned to Edo State on Thursday, which resulted in clashes between supporters of the reinstated Deputy Governor and Governor Godwin Obaseki.

In a statement to journalists, the State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, warned that Shaibu will be made to face the law for the destruction in the state.

The statement read: “The Edo State Government has observed the level of wanton destruction perpetrated by thugs and elements working in connivance with former Deputy Governor of the State, Philip Shaibu in the guise of purportedly enforcing a judgement reinstating him in office.

“Shaibu led thugs through Airport Road axis of Benin City, attacking innocent citizens and unleashing mayhem on private citizens who are going about their lawful businesses.

“The State Government through this statement is warning Shaibu to desist from this turn to violence in the pretense that he is enforcing a judgement. He is reminded that he is not above the law and is liable for the wanton destruction perpetrated by him and his co-travellers.

“Shaibus violent tendencies is well documented and he has been warned at different times by respected figures of society, including the revered Benin Monarch to shun violence.

“We want to reiterate that Shaibu will face the consequences of violence that he has resorted to in pursuit of his aim to return to the Edo State Government House even when he is aware that a stay of execution of the judgement has been filed.

“We enjoin the general public to be calm and go about their lawful businesses as government will continue to deploy the instrumentality of the state to restore and maintain law and order in the State in the face of undue provocation.”

‘I Suffered A Kind Of Trauma With Arsenal’ – Nicolas Pepe Reveals

Top Stories Tamfitronics

Top Stories Tamfitronics Ivorian footballer, Nicolas Pepe has revealed that he almost stopped playing professional football due to the frustration he suffered at Arsenal.

Recall that Arsenal broke their transfer record on August 1, 2019, by paying 80 million to sign Nicolas Pepe from Lille with the expectation that he would be one of the best things to happen to the club.

Unfortunately for the 29-year-old right-winger, he couldn’t fit into coach Mikel Arteta’s system and had to go on loan at OGC Nice in 2022 due to his lack of game time at the Emirates Stadium.

After spending one season away from the club, he couldn’t still establish himself under coach Arteta, as the Gunners decided to terminate his contract on mutual grounds on June 30, 2023.

I suffered a kind of trauma with Arsenal. It was as though they had taken away my passion for football, Nicolas Pepe told LEquipe.

I felt disgusted by the game. I was no longer playing, and I asked myself why I was doing this job.

I felt so many doubts and thought about packing it all in. I asked myself why people were attacking me so angrily.

They went as far as calling me the biggest flop in Premier League history. But I refused to mope about it.

I wanted something different when I left Arsenal last summer, and I didnt care a damn about the money.

After his failed spell at Arsenal, Nicolas Pepe joined Turkish club, Trabzonspor on a free transfer in September 2023 with the hope of rejuvenating his football career. However, he didn’t last more than a season at the club before he parted ways with the side.

Currently, Pepe, who has a transfer market value of 8.5 million, is without a club, and no concrete suitors are lining up for his signature at the time of writing.
