Saturday will mark 80 load shedding-free days for Eskom, but winter demand is picking up, having breached 31 000MW just this week, CEO Dan Marokane said on Friday.
Marokane was speaking as he surpassed his first 100 days at the helm of the power utility, having officially started on 1 March.
The load shedding-free streak, last seen in the middle of the Covid-19 pandemic, has been celebrated on public platforms by the likes of the Presidential Climate Commission and the Energy Council of South Africa’s James Mackay.
