Tennis players might lead a pacifist lifestyle, but that hasn’t stopped them from indulging in the world outside tennis. Only this time, WTA stars, including Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff, Jessica Pegula, and others have been presented with the spicy Kendrick Lamar and Drake musical feud. However, the US Open champion left others in the dust when asked about the beef.

Both rappers ignited the music industry with their rap beef. Ultimately, their battle ended with the world chanting K-Dot’s famous “A minorrr” lyric. Subsequently, after flooding social media with snippets of their catchy bars and verses, it was time to get the tennis stars’ views on the feud. And surprisingly, the Tour came up with an innovative idea to put their rap knowledge to the test.

In a video posted on the WTA’s official Instagram handle, the tennis sensations were questioned about the West Coast vs. Toronto clash. Gauff, Osaka, Pegula, and others were fronted with the rap titan’s most famous lyrics. Notably, the quiz also included lines from their recent to-and-fro beef. In hopes of measuring their acquaintance with the music industry’s greatestthey were awarded points for each correct response. And what do you know, American talent Gauff breezed past compatriot Pegula and Japanese star Osaka!

The World No. 2 was on point with the duo’s rap feud. The difficult quiz saw her score a perfect 10/10. She then finessed her rap knowledge by hilariously saying, “Put this on my resume.” Gauff was followed by 30-year-old Pegula came up short with a 9/10 score. The four-time Grand Slam champion Osaka landed in the last spot, chalking up 8 points. Tennis stars Bianca Andreescu and Leylah Fernandez also participated in the questionnaire.

For the unversed, the rappers have been involved in a controversy that dates back to 2010. However, their feud escalated after the ‘Money Trees’ hitmaker fired shots at Drake on his track ‘Like That’ with fellow rapper Future this year.

While the quiz certainly brought out an intriguing side to the tennis stars, this isn’t the first time they’ve shown interest in the rappers’ battle. Notably, Osaka and Gauff had shared their thoughts on the feud.

Osaka and Gauff were asked whether they were Team Kendrick or Team Drake while participating in the Italian Open earlier this season. In a post-match presser, the pair leaned in favor of the Pulitzer prize winner, Kendrick Lamar.

Although Osaka recorded her stance on the feud as “neutral,” she was unable to deny that Lamar had gained an edge over the Canadian artist. “I’m a neutral party. But, Kendrick dropped some heat that last song (Not Like US record).” Later, the American talent followed the same route as Osaka.

Moreover, she was inclined to pick Mr. Morales over Drake because the former name-dropped tennis legend Serena Williams in one of his recordswhich was later defended by the Compton rapper. “As far as like the rap battle that’s going on, I think definitely Kendrick is winning. Drake dissed Serena, so I have to go with Kendrick. He defended her.”

Both Gauff and Osaka are scheduled to perform at the 2024 Canadian Open. While the Japanese will commence her hardcourt campaign against Our Jabeur in the event’s opener, World No. 2 Gauff received a first-round bye and will face Wang Yafan in R2 on Thursday, August 8.
