The Nigerian Navy Ship Beecroft, which was on Operation Delta Sanity, intercepted a vessel named SWEET MIRI today, which was suspected to be involved in crude oil theft. The vessel had 13 crew members, one of which was from Ghana and the rest were Nigerians.
While briefing the press onboard the intercepted vessel, Rear Admiral MB Hassan, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) of Western Naval Command, stated that the Nigerian Navy had been monitoring the vessel as it was suspected of crude oil theft. On the 25th of February 2024, the vessel turned off its Automatic Identification System (AIS) to avoid detection. It was arrested 174 nautical miles off the coast of Nigeria, which is approximately 320 kilometers, on its way to Benin Republic.
The Nigerian Navy Ship ABA was deployed to investigate the vessel, and subsequently, it was found carrying products suspected to be crude oil. The search was doubled up by deploying NNS SOKOTO to interdict the vessel. On arrival, it was discovered that the vessel was carrying about 2 million litres of the suspected product without approval.
In line with the directive of Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral EI Ogalla, the ship was opened for other agencies to come and take samples and carry out their independent investigations to determine the culpability of the vessel.

Breaking news tamfitronics Vladimir Putin warned he will suffer ‘violent’ end like Adolf Hitler: ‘Won’t be peaceful’

Breaking news tamfitronics An expert warned Vladimir Putin “will either die in office or be removed in something that will certainly become violent” as Russians become increasingly fed up with the Ukraine war.
Vladimir Putin is unlikely to enjoy a peaceful ending to his time in power, an expert has claimed.
The Russian President has ruled in Russia since 2000, with a four-year gap from 2008-2012 when he was Prime Minister and still controlled Russian levers of power.
In that time he suppressed Russian opposition and used his grip on power to launch violent incursions abroad, not least in Ukraine.
Two experts have discussed the parallels between the Russian president and Adolf Hitler’s expansionist rule during the 1930s and 1940s in Germany.
Military analyst Michael Clarke told Times Radio that, like Hitler, Putin will meet a violent end when his time in power reaches its conclusion.
He said: “No one expects Putin to retire peacefully to his Dacha or his palace in Sochia, living the rest of his life observing Russian politics.
“That won’t happen. He will either die in office or be removed in something that will certainly become violent.
“No one can foresee a peaceful transition. All Soviet leaders have been removed in some sort of forceful way followed by a period of interregnum, where one person emerges to power until they are removed. The transition is never smooth and is always full of unpredictable elements.”
Hitler’s death has been shrouded in mystery for decades, but most agree he died by suicide via a gunshot to the head on 30 April 1945 as it became clear Germany was headed for defeat in World War 2.
Historian Lord Roberts added that Putin shares a lot of similarities with Hitler.
He said: “You can also look back at the Tsars. Lots of them were overthrown in palace coups, often by their own sons. They also wound up being very bloody.
“We would all love to see President Putin standing in front of the International Criminal Court. But that is not the way of Russia.
“One always wants to avoid equating Hitler with anybody as it is always a bit of a bear trap.
“But if there is anybody, you are looking for a totalitarian dictator that invades its neighbours, has no time for human rights, murders his domestic opponents…the tragic death of Alexei Navalny can be put down to Putin’s choice of where he was imprisoned. The Venn diagram has a lot of overlapping areas.”
World leaders have warned that, following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, Vladimir Putin must not appeased in the way Hitler was prior to World War 2.

Breaking news tamfitronics There has been outrage as Wale Edun, who is in charge of social investment programmes, has reportedly moved them to the finance ministry in a discreet manner.

The Minister of Finance and Coordinating Economy, Wale Edun, has caused controversy by relocating the National Social Investment Programmes (NSIPs) from the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation to the Ministry of Finance. According to reports, a panel set up by the minister recommended resuming the programmes to help alleviate the suffering of poor and vulnerable Nigerians, with a new board led by Edun overseeing them.
The panel suggested convening a steering committee or board under Edun’s leadership to coordinate the programmes, and reviewing and amending the NSIPA act to determine the future of the NSIPA. However, the move is causing ripples among officials of the Tinubu-led administration, who fear significant changes could occur that involve dissolving the current board, removing state coordinators, and appointing new leaders.
One government official expressed concern, stating that the social investment programmes are currently domiciled in the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation and implemented by the National Social Investment Programme Agency (NSIPA) by law. The executive bill sent by the Muhammadu Buhari administration to the National Assembly placed the NSIPA in charge of these programmes in the federal ministry of humanitarian affairs and poverty alleviation. To amend the principal act, a bill would have to be sponsored. Therefore, anything outside of that is illegal and against the laws setting up the NSIPA.
