In itsfirst sitting, South Africa’s seventh Parliament broke away from theparliamentary politics blueprint of the past decade.
New DA MPs’first act was to vote for the ANC, the ANC supported a DA candidate and the IFPseconded the nomination of an ANC president.
This meantthat President Cyril Ramaphosa was re-elected for a second term as president,the ANC’s Thoko Didiza was elected as the speaker, and the DA’s Annelie Lotrietwas elected as her deputy.
