Naveen Nischal, New Delhi: Delhi Police has exposed the racket of trafficking of newborn children. Police have arrested four people including the couple. An attempt was being made to sell a 20-day-old newborn girl brought from Punjab. A three-month-old girl has been sold in Chandigarh for Rs 2.5 lakh. Police have rescued both the girls and are interrogating the accused. According to the police, this gang was in the business of child trafficking. While investigating in the same connection, the police have arrested four people including a couple. They used to lure poor people with money, take newborn babies from them and sell them. Police have rescued two girls in the case. The accused arrested in the case were identified as Gurmeet Singh (41), resident of Tihar village, his wife Hasmeet Kaur (37), Mariam (30), resident of Dallupura Park Mayur Vihar and Naina (24), resident of Chander Vihar Nihal Vihar. Now the police is interrogating them and trying to find out how many children these people have sold in this manner till now.

What is the whole matter?

DCP Outer District Jimmy Chiram said that on the evening of April 2, Nangloi police station had received information about a child trafficking gang near Sonia Hospital. Under the supervision of ACP Jaipal Singh, the team of SHO Rajesh Kumar conducted a raid and caught one man and three women. Among these, a girl of about 20 days was found with a woman. They told that they are involved in the child trafficking racket, after which a case was registered and legal action was taken. The recovered girl was brought from Fazilka in Punjab. There was a plan to sell it for a huge amount. The police also informed the girl’s parents. It is reported that a couple in Punjab, after having four daughters, sold their fifth born girl to someone they knew, who later fell into the hands of this gang and reached Delhi.

The whole game was being played by luring poor families

The accused revealed during interrogation that they used to lure poor families and take away their children. Later they were sold to needy people. Now efforts were being made to sell this girl brought from Punjab, for which no suitable customer was being found. The police got wind of the fact that they could sell the girl. During their interrogation, another three-month-old girl was also rescued. It has come to light that he was sold in Chandigarh for around Rs 2.5 lakh. The police team reached Chandigarh late at night and rescued this girl from a couple.
