[BREAKING NEWS] Bawumia concedes defeat; congratulates Mahama

NPP flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has conceded defeat in the 2024 presidential race.

Dr. Bawumia explained in a speech that former President John Mahama, his closest contender in the race, has won the elections “decisively” based on the data available to the NPP.

“I have just called former president John Dramani Mahama to congratulate him as president-elect,” he added.

Dr. Bawumia further explained that the NDC had won the majority in parliament.

However, the NPP would not be a destructive opponent and would support the NDC towards achieving a better Ghana.

“We may have lost the battle but not the war,” he said.

“We have conceded defeat like any consummate democrat will do, but we have not abandoned the fact to transform Ghana and expand opportunities to all sections of our society,” he said, adding, “To the rank and file of the NPP, I know the feeling hurts, given that this is not the result you worked for.”

“I know you will feel there is darkness ahead, but that is natural, especially when, in all sincerity, you gave the assignment your all.”

Dr. Bawumia further assured that the party would regroup and return stronger.

He thanked his campaign team for their effort and assured the President-elect John Dramani Mahama of his full support in the transition process.
