Former Senate President and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, has commended the PDP Governors for their solidarity with Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State amidst the ongoing political crisis in the state.
Wabara praised the Governors for standing against anti-democratic forces and for their commitment to peaceful resolution and good governance.
He noted that the PDP Governors’ Forum’s position on the Rivers crisis and other national issues represents the party’s united stance.
He said, “I sincerely commend the PDP Governors for speaking with one voice and solidarising with one of their own. This is a strong message that PDP is united and will not waver it its resolve to defend democracy.”
The former Senate President further said, “It is highly provocative, undemocratic and unacceptable for anybody to think a sitting Governor will be turned into a puppet for whatever reasons.”
He also expressed opposition to calls for emergency rule in Rivers State, warning that the crisis could plunge the country into turmoil if mismanaged. He advised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to ignore those attempting to hijack power through the back door.
Recall that the PDP Governors’ forum had in a recent meeting in Enugu vowed to support Fubara in the ongoing crisis in Rivers.
“The Forum has resolved to stand by His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, Governor of Rivers State; while at the same time employing wider consultations with stakeholders for a peaceful resolution and thus find a lasting solution to the crises”, the forum’s Chairman, Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State read in a communique.
