The Deputy Governor of Ogun state, Noimot Salako-Oyedele, is trending.

She is gaining traction in conversations, particularly in the state capital (Abeokuta) and her hometown (Ado-Odo council area), under the theme “Ogun Deputy Governor is no pushover.”

This development is attributed to her coming out on top in the intense battle to determine the ruling party’s candidates for the upcoming local government election in the state.

According to those in the know, the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in the Deputy Governor’s area was one of the most contentious. It was postponed twice, with things spiraling out of control each time.

The Deputy Governor, a professional in politics, was up against career politicians backed by very influential political office holders with deeper roots in the locality.

Among the formidable political players she contended with were former Senator Gbolahan Dada and the vastly experienced ex-multiple-term commissioner, Jide Ojuko.

But the daughter of a professor emeritus of pharmacology and therapeutics prevailed against all odds in a contest that attracted widespread interest.

Insiders attribute her “overcoming” to the loyalty that retained her as a second-term Deputy Governor.

Details here and there reveal that since her choice, Wasiu Lawal, made the list of winners across the state, the phrase “Ogun Deputy Governor is no pushover” has been making the rounds.
