The operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corp (NSCDC), Nasarawa State Command, have foiled attack by hoodlums on it’s command headquarters in Lafia on Monday.
The hoodlums in their large numbers wielding dangerous weapons were said to have invaded the state command headquarters of the NSCDC in Lafia in the early hours of Monday, June 17.
It was gathered that the bandits who were trying to gain entry into the command headquarters when the eagle eyes of the operatives guarding the facility sighted them.
It was gathered that the bandits flee to the nearby streets when operatives engaged them in a gun duel which lasted minutes after without casually.
Confirming the incident in a telephone conversation with journalists in Lafia, the State Public Relations Officer of the NSCDC, Jerry Victor said unspecified number of gunmen suspected to be bandits invaded the headquarters of the corps in the early hours of Monday.
He said that the bandits who came in large numbers with iron rods and other dangerous weapons attempted to gain entry into the headquarters of the command while some of them positioned themselves around the building in different directions.
He explained that the operatives of the NSCDC swiftly responded by opening fire on the hoodlums whose mission was to release some high-profile suspected criminals including informants of kidnappers, cattle rustlers and other suspected criminals custody of the command.
The NSCDC spokesperson disclosed that no casualty was recorded during the incident, saying cals has been restored at the command after the incident.
Mr Victor disclosed that five notorious suspects were detained by the command for various crimes including two informants of kidnappers of the 82-year-old father of a former state Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Mr Daniel Umaru Lagi who was killed by his abductors after payment of ransom recently.
“They tried to go through the fence but our men, operatives deterred them. They flee into their neighbouring houses. As i speak they were not able to go through”
” There mission you know we have hardened criminals , kidnappers, cattle rustlers and Rapists in our cell who are ongoing investigation some of them have been changed to court while other to arraign on Wednesday’ Victor said.
