I’m a former Newcastle United season ticket holder who, along with my two sons, gave up our season tickets under Mike Ashley.

Not just because of him (but mainly because of him), my two boys went off to university and their seats were often empty, and, under Ashley, I couldn’t even give them away to friends and family.

We are now Newcastle United members and were successful a whole two times last season.

This season? Three ballots, all unsuccessful.

The other day, along with the other Newcastle United members, I received an email from the club about hospitality packages.

Seems they are now offering off-site hospitality at 3Sixty, the big new tall building on St James Boulevard. Also offering hospitality packages at an Argentinian restaurant called Gaucho.

Three hours of pre-match hospitality, including a three course meal and a certain amount of drink, at the end of which you head up to the ground to take your seat in the Leazes End.

For the Man City game, this all comes at a cost of 384

So, I’m thinking that this is probably another reason why it is becoming harder and harder for Newcastle United members to get match tickets.

Since all the boxes and other corporate areas are clearly oversubscribed, the club is now effectively creating extra corporate spaces by using off-site venues, but by using stadium seats that were previously available to Newcastle United members/fans.

It’s been said before but I think the club needs to be asked again.

How many Newcastle United members are there?

Just how many tickets are actually available to be sold to members for each game?

Personally, with a 100% ballot failure rate so far this season, and a pretty low success rate last season (less than 10%), I think we need to know the true reality of the Newcastle United members and ticket availability situation.
