The Vizag S&T Cluster aims to create a vibrant and collaborative ecosystem that will amplify the impact of scientific and technological advancements across the nation.

Visakhapatnam
has been selected as the location for the Vizag Science & Technology (S&T) Cluster, as announced by the Office of the Principal Scientific Adviser (PSA) to the Govt of India. The establishment of this cluster is part of an initiative by the PSA, based on the recommendation of the Prime Minister’s Science, Technology and Innovation Advisory Council (PM-STIAC), to foster
self-reliance
in India through science and technology.
The city of Visakhapatnam is home to numerous science and technology centres, including AMTZ, DRDO, BHEL, RINL, and the largest Naval base in the country.

the Managing Director and founder CEO of AMTZ, submitted a proposal to promote S&T development in this cluster, which was approved by the PSA on 22 August and granted necessary funding. The project is set to be implemented over a period of three years from the date of sanctioning.
The Vizag S&T Cluster aims to create a vibrant and collaborative ecosystem that will amplify the impact of
scientific and technological advancements
across the nation. The project seeks to bring together various stakeholders, such as academic institutions, national and state research laboratories, industry partners, start-ups, MSMEs, state govts, philanthropic foundations, and international organisations.
According to a release by AMTZ, the collaborative synergy between AMTZ as a Science & Technology Cluster not only positions Andhra Pradesh at the forefront of medical technology but also propels India onto the global stage of scientific and technological excellence.
The cluster will focus on advancing three key areas: New Materials Development for High-Tech Segments, Industry 4.0 and Automation, and E-Waste Management. The initiative involves key partners such as Jawaharlal Nehru Pharma City, Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam, GITAM University, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, and other institutions in the region.
