Ace Nollywood stars, Stan Nze and Tana Adelana, have clinched the Outstanding Male Actor and the Outstanding Female Actress awards at the 21st edition of the Abuja International Film Festival (AIFF).
They were announced winners at the awards ceremony of the festival on Thursday night at the Silver bird Galleria in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the 2024 AIFF held on Oct. 28 to Nov. 1 with the theme “Beyond Borders: Bridging Cultures Through Cinemas.”
Stan Nze won the Outstanding Male Actor for his stellar role in the award-winning short film ‘12 Hours’, while Tana Adelana clinched the Outstanding Female Actress for her role in the film Tender Hedges.
Tana Adelana however shares the outstanding Female Actress position with Cameroonian actress, Lum Nora Neba for her role in the Oscar- nominated film Kismet.
Stan Nze led in the stellar cast of 12 Hours with his role as Kelvin, a successful Lagos-based photographer living a lie.
The 25-minute mystery thriller follows the story of Kelvin, a Lagos-based photographer, who wakes up to an inexplicable terror at midnight.
In a haunting quest for answers, Kelvin is forced to relive the last 12 hours of his life, grappling with the falsity of his perceptions.
As the truth unravels, he faces the dilemma of accepting his fate or fighting back.
12 Hours, a debut directorial film of Tobe Anosike, also clinched the prestigious Best Short Film Nollywood award at the 2024 Toronto International Nollywood Film Festival(TINFF).
Other categories of award and winners at the AIFF include Best Experimental, Tage IM Winter (Germany) and Best Animation Film, The Forest of Honest Bees. (France).
The outstanding Music Score was clinched by Kaka, a Nigerian film, Best Feature Screenplay, Kismet (Cameroon), Best Feature Film:, Foreign, Four Quarters (Russia) and Best Feature Film, Indigenous-Kaka.
Others include Best Documentary (Feature), Dela-The Making of EL Anatsui (Nigeria), Best Documentary(Short), Lucy- A Pioneer Destiny (Italy) and Outstanding in Film Directing, which was clinched by Evgenya Tirdatova for Four Quarters.
Four Quarters, a film entry from the Russian Federation, clinched the highly coveted Golden Jury Film Award.(NAN)

Before the clash with 3SC, Lobi Stars had drawn one and lost three matches including the 0-1 home defeat to Rivers United in Week three.

Ahmadu Liman assisted last season’s highest goal scorer for Lobi Stars, Samuel Tiza, who was making his first start of the season, to score the all-important goal in the 29th minute to hand the home side the maximum points.
The visitors piled pressure on Lobi Stars to avoid a second loss on the bounce but the hosts stood firm for their first win of the season.
Lobi Stars now have five points from five matches and are temporarily occupying the 15th position on the log.
Reacting to the victory, Lobi Stars Board Member, Harry Yachi, said the win didn’t come on a silver platter.
“It was a difficult match but I thank God that we were to pick the first three points.
“I salute the boys for putting up the spirited fight that naturalised the plans of our opponents who came for victory.
“We are not resting on our oars. This victory is a morale booster and we shall build on it going forward,” said Yachi.
In the other week 5 match played in Benin City, visiting El-Kanemi Warriors surrendered their early lead to Bendel Insurance but fought hard to draw 1-1.
Nigerian international, Ibrahim Mustapha, put Warriors ahead in the 2nd minute of the match but the hosts drew level in the 19th minute when Michael Enaruna found the equaliser.
The remaining week 5 matches will be played on Sunday, October 6.
The Democratic National Convention, which kicked off Monday in Chicago, is being hosted by a star-studded lineup including Tony Goldwyn, Ana Navarro, Mindy Kaling and Kerry Washington.
The first night of the convention saw surprise appearances from notable figures in both politics and Hollywood.
Among the notable attendees were California Governor Gavin Newsom, former US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, director Spike Lee, actor Sean Astin from The Lord of the Rings and Star Wars icon Mark Hamill.

Tony Goldwyn, best known for his role as President Fitzgerald Grant on ABC’s Scandalkicked off the convention on Monday night. Goldwyn, who has been an active participant in political campaigns over the years, has previously shown his support for Democratic candidates, including Hillary Clinton in 2016 and Joe Biden in 2020.
Goldwyn currently stars as Manhattan District Attorney Nicholas Baxter on Law & Order and continues his advocacy work, notably with The Innocence Project.

Speaking about how he would be backing Kamala Harris and Tim Walz in November, Kerr told the DNC crowd: “After the results are tallied that night, we can, in the words of the great Steph Curry, we can tell Donald Trump: ‘Night, night.'”

Taylor was set to be the final performer on Monday night, but he was bumped due to the event running over schedule. For the 2012 DNC, he performed Carolina In My Mind, You’ve Got a Friendand How Sweet It Is from the Time Warner Cable Arena in Charlotte, North Carolina.
“I’m a lifelong Democrat, and I pay a lot of taxes, and I want a government that I paid for,” Taylor has previously said, per THR. “I do feel as a citizen, I just feel compelled to respond when I’m asked for support.”
