These works were done as part of the 2016-2024 $2.2 billion remote housing partnership with the Australian Government, which includes $100 million for urgent repairs and maintenance across Territory Homelands.

The Lawler Labor Government secured $4 billion in joint investment for remote housing with the Australian Government, the four Land Councils and Aboriginal Housing NT to improve housing and reduce overcrowding in remote communities and Homelands in the Territory.

Attributable to Minister for Remote Housing and Homelands Selena Uibo:

“We know that housing leads to improved wellbeing across the board – this means children perform better in school, and there is improved health and mental health in the communities.

“Since 2016, our Territory Labor Government has reached a tally of about 4000 new and improved housing, changing the social landscape across the Territory.

“The new 2024-2034 $4 billion remote housing partnership with the Australian Government ensures the Territory will see more and improved homes in the next ten years, halving overcrowding in our remote communities.”
