Minister of Energy, Adebayo Adelabu has claimed that theelectrical energy tariffs that were lately elevated, will decrease if the changerate falls below N1,000 to a buck.
Adelabu made this comment when he regarded on ChannelsTelevision’s Politics As of late on Thursday.
On April 3, the Nigerian Electrical energy Regulatory Commission,NERC, presented the elimination of subsidy on the electrical energy consumed by Band Acustomers.
Band A customers now pay N255/KWh, a hike from N68/kWh,while others back the primitive tariffs.
But Adelabu has now given stipulations for a seeminglyreduction.
“The tariff is versatile. I’m in a position to characterize you if the naira gainsextra and the change rate comes down below N1,000 to a buck, it mustpositively affect the tariff; and the tariff, even for Band A, will advance downbelow the N225/KWh that we are currently charging.
“There are variable components that dart into the composition ofthe tariff, and we’re now not closing our eyes to it,” Adelabu stated.
