Active lifestyle headphone brand Shokz has introduced the OpenRun Pro 2, a new sports headphone model priced at $319 in Australia.
The device features the company’s 10th generation bone conduction technology, incorporating a new system called DualPitch.
This technology combines bone conduction for mid and high frequencies with air conduction for bass frequencies. The previous generation OpenRun Pro only used bone conduction.
The OpenRun Pro 2 utilizes a dual reed and coil design, which aims to stabilize the vibration system and improve vocal clarity. The headphones employ an algorithm that assigns sound elements to specific drivers, intended to create a balanced audio experience.
Maintaining the open-ear design characteristic of Shokz products, the OpenRun Pro 2 allows users to hear ambient sounds while listening to audio. The device includes ergonomic ear hooks and a unibody frame designed for a secure fit during physical activities.
The battery life is stated to be 12 hours on a full charge, with a 5-minute Quick Charge feature providing 2.5 hours of listening time. The headphones now use a USB-C charging port.
For call functionality, the OpenRun Pro 2 incorporates dual microphones and an AI noise reduction algorithm. The company claims this system can filter out 96.5% of background noise.
The headphones have an IP55 water-resistant rating, featuring a double-layer mesh structure and nano-hydrophobic coating.
The Shokz OpenRun Pro 2 will be available in Black and Orange, in both Standard and Mini sizes. Pre-sales begin on August 28, 2024, on Shokz.com.au, with wider retail availability from September 5, 2024, at various Australian retailers.
Shokz specializes in open-ear audio products designed for various uses including endurance activities, lifestyle, and communication. The company’s headphones are the official race-approved headphone for the Sydney Marathon, Gold Coast Marathon, and UTMB.
