The Mars Volta founder hits out…
06 09 2024
The Mars Volta co-founder Cedric Bixler-Zavala has hit out at Linkin Park’s Emily Armstrong hire.
The metal band reconvened recently, taking the decision to write a new chapter. Linkin Park had been inactive since the loss of Chester Bennington seven years ago, and began to look for a new singer.
Dead Sara’s Emily Armstrong was unveiled as their new front-person overnight, with a full studio album incoming.
Not everyone was impressed, however. Emily Armstrong’s links to Scientology, and in particular her links to the convicted rapist Danny Masterson.
Cedric Bixler-Zavala’s wife Chrissie Carnell-Bixlerwas one of Masterson’s victims, with the musician writing after the guilty verdict was handed down: “My wife and the survivors did the unthinkable. Go ahead and send her love. She needs it.”

Hearing the news of Emily Armstrong’s appointment, Cedric Bixler-Zavala left a comment on Dead Sara’s Instagram. “I’m surprised none of you wrote a letter on Danny Masterson’s behalf since your corny ass singer showed up to support him in the prelims. Remember Emily? Remember how your fellow Scientologist goon squad surrounded one of the Jane Doe’s when she was trying to leave the elevators? The court sheriffs had to escort her away from your awful cult.”
“Remember when we did the purification rundown Emily? Were you direct to safe point me cuz of what my wife knew?”
“Why can’t you shut your mouth during the detox program where people are going through some rough shit but your corny ass is singing like an unsupervised child? Is it cuz you’re a born in Scientologist that gets a pass?”
“How do you reconcile the homophobia found in the teachings of RLH’s book dianetics? Do you fans know about your friend Danny Masterson? Your rapist friend.”
The comment seems to have been deleted but is widely available on multiple screenshots.
Linkin Park and Emily Armstrong have yet to respond to the comment.
