Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, already in the custody of the authorities

The nearly two-week police search for Pastor Apollo Quiboloy inside the compound of the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) in Davao City has ended, after he “mapasakamay” by the authorities this Sunday night.

Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos first announced in a Facebook post that “nahuli” that is Quiboloy, with a picture of the religious leader whom the police are looking for to serve the arrest warrant against him.

However, refuted by Atty. Ferdinand Topacio, Quiboloy’s lawyer, who “nahuli” his client, bagkos, “sumuko” it is said to be from the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. (ISAFP) while inside the KOJC compound.

“He was not arrested, especially not by the Philippine National Police under the DILG. Therefore, it is epal to the highest level for Sec. Abalos to be seemingly taking credit for the non-existent arrest,” according to Topacio’s statement.

Eastern Mindanao Commander Lieutenant General Luis Bergante confirmed to GMA Regional TV that Quiboloy surrendered to the ISAFP.

According to AFP spokeswoman Colonel Francel Margareth Padilla, “in full support” the AFP to the PNP since the search operation for Quiboloy.

“Our role in this matter has been purely in support of the PNP’s efforts in serving the warrant. As this is primarily a police operation, we defer to the PNP to provide the details and updates on the situation,” that officer.

Police Davao Region chief Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III said Quiboloy was found in the area they expected.

However, he refused to give further details.

“We didn’t doubt that. There’s no doubt that he’s here. We studied, so our search took a little longer because the area is so big,” said Torre.

“I am grateful to Pastor Apollo Quiboloy for the realization that this is the right thing to do, to really face the law, he added.

Torre also thanked the members of the KOJC for their cooperation, and hoped that whatever wound was created by their search for Quiboloy in the compound will begin to heal.

“There may be confrontations, misunderstandings, and small encounters, so I do hope that this will be the start of the healing and not be enemies. I am not your enemy,” he said.

From Davao City, Quiboloy was boarded in a C-130 plane and taken to the PNP Custodial Facility Camp Crame, according to Super Radyo dzBB report.

In a separate statement, Senator Risa Hontiveros praised the authorities for the successful search for Quiboloy, “for their tireless efforts and dedication, despite Quiboloy’s tactics.”

“Mananagot ka, Apollo Quiboloy. You cannot outrun the law. You will not further delay justice,” that senator.

“Abot-kamay na ng mga victim-survivors ang hustisya, salamat sa kanilang paglalakas-loob na magsabi ng katotohanan,” Hontiveros said.

Quiboloy faces various cases such as human trafficking and child abuse here in the Philippines, and even in America.

However, Quiboloy vehemently denied the allegations against him. —FRJ, GMA Integrated News
