Eagles roster news: 2 moves announced ahead of Saints game

Top Stories Tamfitronics

The Philadelphia Eagles officially announced two roster moves ahead of their Week 3 road game against the New Orleans Saints. An overview:

  • WR Parris Campbell and TE Jack Stoll were temporarily elevated from the practice squad.

Note: teams can temporarily promote practice squad players up to three times each in the regular season and an unlimited number of times in the postseason.

Let’s sort through this news on a player-by-player basis.

PARRIS CAMPBELL

With A.J. Brown ruled out, the Eagles are elevating Campbell to provide more wide receiver depth. Campbell played 15 offensive snaps (zero targets) and zero special teams snaps after previously being elevated for the Eagles’ Week 2 game. He played the fifth-most WR snaps behind DeVonta Smith, Jahan Dotson, Britain Covey, and Johnny Wilson. That’ll likely be the case again in New Orleans.

JACK STOLL

Stoll getting the nod over E.J. Jenkins is a little interesting since it was the latter who was temporarily elevated for the Eagles’ first two games. Stoll is considered to be the better run blocker while Jenkins offers more pass-catching potential. Stoll will be the third tight end behind Dallas Goedert and Grant Calcaterra.

MOVES NOT MADE

The Eagles notably did NOT temporarily elevate a safety from the practice squad, which could indicate that C.J. Gardner-Johnson will be able to play. CJGJ missed practice on Thursday and Friday before being ruled questionable to play. For what it’s worth, the Inquirer did report that CJGJ’s injury isn’t considered to be a major concern. The Eagles will officially announce their game day inactives at 11:30 AM Eastern on Sunday morning, so, we’ll find out more about his status then … if not sooner.
